TELEPHONES WANTED

MEET AT HOBSONVILLE A meeting was held in the Hobsonville Hall on Wednesday evening to consider the question of telephone communication. Messrs. Donaldson and Brosnan, of the Telegraph Department, attended. Mr. Grigg, of Whenuapai, presided. Mr. Donaldson explained the cost of installing a system with an exchange at Hobsonville. It would be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.. and 51 subscribers would be required. The cost would be £6 per annum for each subscriber. Another scheme would be to connect with the Henderson exchange. This offered the most advantage, as it included an allnight service. The cost would be approximately £6 *los per annum. It was decided to get the Women’s Institute to take up the question and form centres at Hobsonville. Brigham’s Creek and Whenuapai.
