SALE OF SHORTHORNS
WAIKATO PEDIGREES Special to THE SUN HAMILTON, Thursday. A sale of Darbalara pedigree milking Shorthorns was held on account of Mr. R. D. Duxfield, of Horotiu, and Mr. H. Booth, of Te Ivowhai, by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company, at Horotiu today. The bidding was moderate and the prices realised were only satisfactory. The highest price of the sale was £33 12s, paid by Mr. T. H. McLaren, of Manawaru, for the two-year-old bull Horotiu Heroic. Five two-year-old bulls sold on account Mr. Duxfield realised an average of about 23 guineas, while eight of Mr. Booth’s heifers sold for an average price of £lB 10s. Following are the principal sales: —Two-year-old bulls: Horotiu Heroic, bought by Mr. McLaren, £33 3 2s; Horotiu Duke, Mr. H. Rollett, Matamata, £32 11s; Horotiu Spot, Mr. J. Mclntyre, Te Hoe, £2l. Yearling bulls: Horotiu Supremacy, Mr. J. F. Evans, Te Akau, £29 8s; Horotiu Posey’s Boy, Mr. R. J. Williamson. Awanui North. £26 ss; I-lorotiu Signet, Mr. T. H. McLaren, £l9 19s. Yearling heifers: Almadale Belle 3rd. Mr. J. L. Shanks, £3l 10s: Almadale Daisy, Mr. T. H. Mee, Canterbury. £lB 18s. Four yearling heifers were bought by Mr. Curtis, Mission Station, Greenmeadows, for £l2 16s.
