DAMAGES FOR LIBEL
FIREMEN AWARDED £2O Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Domestic differences in the New Brighton Volunteer Fire Brigade, prior to its temporary disbandment more than a year ago. were ventilated during a libel action in the Magistrate’s Court today. The sum of £25 was claimed by R. A. Stokes, former superintendent of the brigade, for the publication of certain statements by three of the then members of the brigade. Judgment was given for plaintiff for £2O.
