TROUBLE OVER WHISKY
BOUGHT LIQUOR FOR PROHIBITED MAN TWO FINES INFLICTED For procuring a bottle of whisky for a prohibited person, Donald A. McLean, a Devonport taxi-driver, was fined £5 at the Police Court today. William James Carnahan, for whom the whisky was procured, was fined £5 for procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. Mr. Bryce Hart appeared foi* McLean and Carnahan was represented by Mr. J. J. Sullivan. Both accused were seen entering the hotel by a constable at Devonport. When confronted McLean admitted getting the bottle for Carnahan, who had given him the money for it. He said he did not know that Carnahan was prohibited. Mr. Hunt lined both men £5. McLean was given 14 days to pay, and Carnahan was ordered to pay his fine forthwith.
