“SAFETY FIRST”
CAMPAIGN BY A.A.A. AVENUES OF PUBLICITY A vigorous “Safety First” campaign, lo extend over a period of six months, has been decided upon by the Auckland Automobile Association. This decision is the result of a report brought down by Mr. R. Chamtaloup, touring manager of the association. After a period of six months the position will be reviewed, and some definite and permanent scheme inaugurated. The campaign will take the form of newspaper articles inserted in weekly papers, monthly magazines, and periodicals. In addition, newspaper advertising and wireless talks will be utilised, and addresses given to school children. School posters will point to the dangers of careless driving. The erection of danger signs will ensure greater safety on the roads, and the present system of headlight-testing by the uniformed patrols will be extended and carried out in all the smaller centres in the A.A.A. territory. It is intended to seek the cooperation of the police and local bodies in stopping motorists, and issuing a warning in cases of minor breaches of the regulations.
