WIFE’S DISLOYALTY

HUSBAND GRANTED DIVORCE INCRIMINATING EVIDENCE Noticing his wife entering a city hotel in company with a strange man, Albert Edward Blackwell made inquiries at the office to learn that the pair had booked in as a married couple, and he later found them in a locked bedroom. v Blackwell, (Mr. McLiver), related this story to Mr. Justice Herdman, in the Supreme Court this morning, in support of his petition for dissolution of his marriage with Beatrice Patricia Blackwell, on the ground of her adultery. John Ellis was cited as corespondent. The marriage took place in September, 1926, and his wife and he lived together in Hamilton and Wellington before coming to Auckland, according to the petitioner. Shortly after 6 o’clock on the evening of April 12, this year, he saw his wife and a strange man enter a city hotel. Following them a few minutes later, he learned on inquiry at the office that they had booked in under the names of “Mr. and Mrs. Ellis.” Accompanied by the licensee he went to the bedroom, the door of which was locked. Corroborative evidence was given by' the licensee, who said that following the visit of Blackwell to the bedroom, the pair left about two hours after booking in. His Honour questioned whether adultery had been committed, to which counsel replied that this was the reasonable presumption under the circumstances. A decree nisi was granted.
