CHAPMAN NOT TO PLAY FOR ENGLAND'S ELEVEN

WYATT LEADS TEST SIDE FOURTEEN SELECTIONS British Official Wireless Reed. 11.55 a.m. RUGBY, Tuesday. R. E. S. Wyatt, who was appointed this year captain of the Warwickshire team, will be captain of the Test cricket team in place of A. P. P. Chapman, w r ho is not included in tlie teain. Wyatt did well in India in 1924, playing for the English team, and next year played in all five team matches in South Africa. A choice of 14 players has been made, it is understood, tn enable the selectors to field a team good for either a dry or a wet wicket. The 14 players who have been invited to he in attendance at the Oval are: Wyatt (captain), Duleepsinhji, Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Whysall, Hammond, Leyland, Hendren, Parker, Tate, Larwood, Duckworth, Peebles and Ames. Chapman, interviewed by the “Daily Mail,” said: “I am most disappointed at not having the opportunity of leading England in the decisive test.” He cites his test record in Australia and England, and says he cannot understand why he was withdrawn. “If the real reason is that England’s batting needs strengthening,” he adds, “it is a matter for regret. My average in the present series of tests is only 44. t think England has a good chance of retaining the ashes, and with all my heart I wish Wyatt and the team full and complete success.”
