On his motion, the council referred the question of carrying out certain works, involving the widening of t>. main road at Oaklei Creek, to joint committee. Cr. J. H. Langley described the carrying of tlie loan as another mile stone in the history of Mount Albert A tribute to the work performed bv the Mayor in connection with the extensions was paid by Cr. J. J. Buckle-. EXTENSION OF LINE In reply to a question bv Cr. Rus sell, the Mayor stated that the Tramport Board was now considering extension of the line to Vincent Road. Headmasters of schools in the Mount Albert district are to be asked to impress upon children the necessity of protecting their own property. This decision by the council followed upon a complaint of vandalism to trees by a schoolboy, who, it w.%-, reported, had been seen beating eft’ the tops of trees showing above tlie wire protection. Permits for the erection -of buildings valued at £2,501 were issued by the builWing inspector during the pas: three weeks.
