Y.W.C.A.. Banquet
| MOTHERS’ CLUB MEMBERS i | ENTERTAIN ARTISTS, I ; SPEAKERS AND FRIENDS ] SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The Mothers' Club of the Y.W.C.A. took the opportunity on Saturday evening last to entertain its artists and speakers and friends at a banquet in the Assembly Hall of the Y.W.C.A. building. The tables were decorated in the colours of the club, blue, white and Sold, the bowls of irises, daffodils and iceland poppies being- very effective. The Kev. R. C. Roberts was chairman. Mrs. Mann carried out the duties pf deputy-president. Numerous toasts were honoured during the evening and very enjoyj able musical selections were given by | the Grey Lynn Scout Orchestra; Miss Jean Brown delighted the company ! with two ’cello solos, Mr. C. Swales acting as accompanist. Mr. Trevor Birins gave elocutionary items. Among the women present were: Mrs. J-I. Mann (deputy-president), in navy blue velvet trimmed with iloral crepe de chine; Mrs. Hawkey, who wore rose crepe de chine; Mrs. Peter Hoy, black ring velvet, relieved with gold lace; Mrs. Baker, silver and mauve lace frock; Mrs. H. Gaughan, satin; Mrs. W. J. Hynes, bois de rose georgette and black silk bridge coat; Mrs. McConnell, black satin with silver lace overdress; Mrs. Ferguson, black taffeta; Mrs. M. IX Strange, black crepe de chine relieved with grey; Mrs. Reece, navy blue crepe de chine and floral trimmings; Mrs. R. Croton, black satin and silver lace; Mrs. Robson, black lace; Mrs. R. C. Roberts, black georgette and lace; Mrs. K. J. Judd, navy crepe de chino and lace, with touches of lime green; Mrs. It. Tucker, beige silk chenille; Mrs. J. McCarthy, black georgette and lace; Mrs. A. J. Robertson, green embossed velvet; Mrs. W. Taylor, blue ring velvet; Mrs. Murdoch, navy blue crepe de chine; Mrs. Reitz, mauve velvet and lace. Mrs. Tj. Young, in powder-bine georgette and silver lace; Mrs. O’Brien, black georgette and gold lace: Mrs. A. E. Lewis, black silk georgette; Mrs. F. Pearson, blue georgette and lace; Mrs. Willis, navy satin with fawn and red trimmings; Mrs. Kinley, blue repp with fawn and blue trimmings; Mrs. R. Walker, black silk moire; Mrs. M. Hunt, peach crepe de chine; Mrs. W. Harrison, white georgette and lace over pink georgette. Mrs. S. G. Carr, whose gown was of brown satin witii ribbon trimmings; Mrs. R. Wright, blue moire silk trimmed with lace; Mrs. M. N. Rewis, navy blue crepe de chine, relieved with gold; Mrs. I. McKeown, black crgpe de chine with black Lice; Mrs. A. Babb, fawn rayon, relieved with blue; Mrs. J. Merson, navy crept fleuri; Mrs. Olive Gough, black ~ bengahne and floral satin; Mrs. J. Pankhurst, navy crepe de soie, with inlets of lace; Mrs. W. Manson. cornflower blue crepe de chine; Mrs. M. Wright, green georgette, with silver laee and lemon frills; Mrs. Green (Birkenhead), floral velvet; Mrs. Salisbury Sykes, floral ninon; Mrs. F. Jury, cinnamon crepe de chine, relieved with orange; Mrs. F. A. Daly, willow green satin; Miss Doughty (representing Y.W.C.A.), black cmI bossed georgette; Miss Mandeno, black i satin, relieved with silver trimmings; i Miss M. Green, larkspur blue crepe de chine, relieved with pastel bands, and silver bridge coat; Miss M. McMurtrie, rose ring velvet and gold lace; Miss Bell Daly, blue and apricot crepe de chine: Miss Nona Taylor, champagne lace frock; Miss J. Wright, primrose georgette over silver lame. PARTY TO CELEBRATE COMING-OF-AGE ENJOYABLE EVENING A delightful evening was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Smethurst, Mahana, Ladies’ Mile, on Saturday, in honour of the coming-of-age of their grand niece. Miss Molly Kidd. The drawing room was attractively | arranged with bowls of daffodils and | violets. j The guests were entertained with ! competitions, and musical items were given by Miss Brooke. Miss Mather, Miss J. Wilbur, and elocutionary by Mrs. Dupree, Mrs. T. Clark and Miss J. Wilbur. Mrs. George Kidd received the guests wearing a frock of green charmeuse. Mrs. Smethurst'had on a gown of black embossed georgette. Miss Molly Kidd wore a pretty frock of green crepe de chine. Among those present were:—Mr. and Mrs. J. Wilbur, Mr. and Mrs. T.
