SHOOTING ACCIDENT

MAORI GIRL INJURED From Our Own Correspondent DARGAVILLE, Monday. Slight injuries were received by a young Maori girl, Nellie Smith, as the result of a shooting accident which occured on a dredge last evening. Edward Warmsley, a young man, who is employed on the dredge, had been practising with a pea-rifle with some companions. Carrying the loaded rifle in his hand, he walked into a room on the dredge wherein were three or four persons, including the girl Smith. By some means the rifle exploded and the charge grazed the lower portion of Miss Smith’s back. Medical aid was summoned and it was found that the injury was not serious.
