"COULDN’T GET WORK"
BUT GOT METHYLATED SPIRITS GAOL FOR LABOURER Though Alexander Moore could not get work he could get methylated spirits to drink. This morning Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., gave him 14 days’ work at the gaol. Moore, a labourer, pleaded guilty to being found drunk in Neal’s Avenue yesterday and also to being found without lawful excuse on enclosed premises. “I’ve been trying to get work, but t couldn’t,” explained Moore. .‘‘Yes, but you could get drunk,” said'Mr. Hunt. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said accused had been found in an outhouse near Myers Park about 8.10 p.m. yesterday. “He had been drinking and a bottle of methylated spirits was found alqngside him,” said the sub-inspector. “He has a list and has not long been out of gaol.” Mr. Hunt sentenced Moore to 14 days on the second charge. On the first charge he was convicted and discharged.
