MORRINSVILLE NOTES

Seven tenders were received by the Piako County Council for the work of tar-sealing - the eight and a-half miles of main road from Motumaoho to Tatuanui. All the prices were very close. As the tenders have been forwarded to the Highways Board in Wellington for a final decision details will not be available for a few days. The engineer’s estimate of the cost was about £15,000. * * * Mr. J. T. Cameron, postmaster of Morrinsville, was elected a member of the Morrinsville Chamber of Commerce at the meeting on Thursday. “There is a great deal of sickness at the school —sore throats, colds, influenza and one case of pneumonic influenza,” stated the headmaster of the Morrinsville District High School in his report to the committee.
