The objset of the movement, which :s a national and purely voluntary ona. >■ to bring into greater prominence the beneficial influence of rnuaic upon the community and to revive the habit of concert-going. The invasion of cheap, popular musir of the jazz type has. it has been fer considerably undermined th£ musical appreciation of the public, and part:cularlv that of the younger member* of the community. With wholesale demonstrations of good music throughout Music Week, it is hoped that a great deal will have been aeoompliiheij toward bringing good music as a form of relaxation and inspiration back ta greater popularity. In Auckland a strong and energetic committee has arranged a programme which, it is thought, will provide the necessary attraction. All the prominent musical organisations in the City are taking part, including the Royal Auckland Choir. Bohemian Orchestra. Auckland Choral Society. Aeolian Orchestra. Civic Orchestra. Auckland Municipal Band. Auckland Chamber Music Society. Municipal Choir. Auckland Operatic Society. Leys Institute Orchestra, Blind Institute Orchestra and Band. Piano Studente' Association and others. SCHOOLS ASSISTING Various schools are also assisting and some excellent concerts have beer, arranged. On Tuesday evening a grand concert will be given at the Town *Hall by a combined choir from the primary schools, and on Wednesday afternoon a concert will be given by the pupils of the Epsom Gramma* School. St. Cuthbert's College and the Auckland Grammar School. On the following afternoon a massed concert by pupils,from all the Catholic schools, secondary and primary, will be given. Also in the schools section will be a very interesting concert by the Maori boys and girls from St. Stephen’s and Queen Victoria Schools. under the direction of Mr. Colin Mustoc. It is expected that the concerts by the various combined schools will attract the biggest audiences seen in the Tost, Hall for many years past. During the week community single* will be held in the Town Hall between 12.30 and 2.30.
