NATIVE PRINCE’S BIG HEAT Cannonball’s Surprise ADDINGTON TROTTING CARNIVAL Special to THE SUN CHRISTCHURCH, Today. THE New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s National fixture was continued today in fine weather. There was a large attendance and the track was in good order. Backers received a. rude shock in the opening event when a big outsider in Cannonball beat the favourite, Home Voyage. Another outsider in Marinda followed Erin’s Fortune to the judge in the saddle heat, and little-favoured candidates in Tarndale and Mac Dillon filled the dividend places in the Belgium Handicap. The Auckland paeer, Native Prince, won the chief event nicely from the consistent Imprint.

Home "Voyage and White Satin were first to move, but Ambition and White Satin broke, while Mount Royal and Nelson Ata left their feet a. little later. Oval, Herbilwyn. Boneta, Home Voyage and Fifa were then left in the lead, but Home Voyage broke and White Satin again mixed it. Boneta, trotting well, led I-lerbilwin, Fifa, Jock Bingen, Oval, Cannon Ball. Home Voyage and All Peters past the stand the second time. Boneta, Fifa and Cannon Ball were first into the back and Jock Bingen and Home Voyage next. The last-named broke once more and Fifa tired. At the home turn Cannon Ball and Boneta were clear of the field Into the straight, with Home Voyage coming fast again, followed by Fifa, Midland, Nelson Boy. Tamahine and Trampcrisp. Cannon Ball won by three lengths from Home Voyage, with Boneta a length and a-half away. Midland was fourth, and Trampcrisp, Nelson Boy, Fifa and Tamahine nextTimes: 3.27 2-5. 3.32 4-5, 3.32. Xgahuia went to the front from Sahib, Marinca, Grey Cloud, Darknite and Teremoa. Xgahuia was still in charge in the back from Marinca and Sahib, with Erin's Fortune putting in a fast run. Erin's Fortune got up to Marinca at the home turn. and. following them were Xgahuia, Sahib, Laplander, and Cardinal Logan. Erin’s Fortune was not afterward troubled to beat Marinca by three lengths. Sahib was a length away third. Laplander fourth, and then came Cardinal Logan and Kid Logan. KING GEORGE HANDICAP Of £1,000; limit 4.29; 2 miles 1 NATIVE PRINCE, 36yds 1 3 IMPRINT, 36yds 2 7—DUXDAS BOY, 36yds 3 All started. Won by a neck. Time, 4.30 Harvest Child led out from Sunshower, Bonny Logan. Daphnd de Oro, Linkman, Pluto and Jean McElwvn, with Xflttive Prince going well at the head of the others. Harvest Child Was still in the lead passing the stands the first t*ne. his closest attendants being Sunshower, Daphne de Oro. feonny Logan and Jean McElwyn. Pluto go© a break on the field running into the back and passing the stands the second dime was showing the way to Harvest Child, Daphne de Oro, Imprint, Sur.shqwer, Jean McElwyn, Native Prince and Bonny Logan. Running co the back the last time the leaders were Pluto and Imprint together, with Native Prince, Harvest Chield, Sunshower, Daphne de Oro, Dundas Boy, Jean McElwyn and Linkman following. Imprint was first into the straight from Native Prince, Pluto, Dundas Boy, Linkman, Harvest Child, Sunshower and Jean McElwyn. In the run home, however. Native Prince
stayed on *\vell in a late challenge from Imprint, to beat him by a neck. Dundas Boy was third, with Linkman close up fourth, followed by Pluto, Sunshower and Harvest Child.
