MYSTERY BOMBER
LIVE SHELLS DROPPED ON COALFIELDS RESIDENTS IN UPROAR United U.A. —Z?i/ Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK. Tuesday. Two airmen in a monoplane bombed the coalmining area around Providence, Kentucky, where strikes have caused the mines to be idle since April. Nine bombs loaded with dynamite and charged with iron slugs were dropped. Only two of the bombs exploded and there were no casualties, although one exploded perilously near a group of workmen. Intense excitement followed the visit of the unknown monoplane, which was flown away toward the north. The crashing of the bombs could be beard for miles and the outrage threw the townspeople into a state of uproar.
