W.C.T.U.

PONSONBY BRANCH The fortnightly meeting of the Ponsonby Branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held in St. Stephen’s Hall on Thursday afternoon. Miss Read presided, and reported that the annual district convention would be held at Mount Albert in September. Mrs. Farrand, district superintendent for anti-gambling, gave a report on her work for the year. Being “T. E. Taylor Day,” Mis Read gave a very interesting paper on the life and work of this great man, whose life meant so much to the temperance movement in New Zealand. Afternoon tea brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.
