FARMER FOUND SHOT
OPEN VERDICT RETURNED Front Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Monday. An open verdict was returned by the coroner, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., at the inquest this afternoon touching the death of Daniel McKeown, farmer, of Ngaruawahia, who was found dead on his farm with a shotgun beside him, this morning. Dr. G. B. Isdaile t of Ngaruawahia, gave evidence of the finding of the body, andie Hugh Grant, a farm hand, said that the gun belonged to the deceased. Elizabeth McVeigh, employed at McKeown’s, said Mr. McKeown' left home at 6.30 a.m. and told her he was going to tend a sick cow. Constable McGruar said that the weapon found near deceased was a double-barrelled shotgun containing one discharge cartridge. There was no other ammunition. It returning a verdict that deceased met his death through a shotgun wound, the coroner said there was no evidence to show that the wound was self-inflicted.
