Dickson, of Hikurangi, met a car driven by Mr. T. Coulter in the Victoria Valley. Both vehicles touched and the former’s car dropped down an 80ft bank- into the stream below. Mr. Dickson suffered five broken ribs and severe chest injuries. Other occupants of his car, Mr. Reece, of Hikurangi, and Mr. Wallace, of Kaitaia, received only minor injuries. The car, which was insured, was a total wreck. Mr. W. Whitmore was motoring near Broadwood when he met another car in a narrow part of the road. In swerving to avoid a collision the car skidded and capsized over a bank. Mr. "Whitmore suffered a broken finger, but two other occupants of the car escaped uninjured.
