OUTSIDE CITY GATES
PLANES BOMB AFRIDIS NEAR PESHAWAR CITY MENACED Reed. 10.50 a.m. DELHI, Sunday. The inhabitants of Peshawar are spending anxious days owing to the menace of raiding Afridis, who are growing ever nearer. % Devout Moslems are praying for the success of the British and Indian troops. The main body of Afridis, estimated at 10,000, is encamped in Bdra Valley, 12 miles from the citySeventy airplanes operated against them, dropping 6,000 bombs, but it is believed the Afridi casualties are small. Meanwhile the main attack on Peshawar has not yet materialised.
