ENJOYABLE EVENING ORPHANS’ CLUB FUNCTION On Thursday evening the members of the Papakura Orphans’ Club entertained a large number of guests at a delightful “Ladies’ Evening’’ at the club. Visitors present included brethren from the Auckland, Onehunga. Pukekohe, Otahuhu, Birkenhead and Northcote and Tamaki Orphans’ Clubs. A splendid programme was presented, after which the guests were entertained with dancing. The president (Bro. W. K. Francis) extended a very warm welcome to the ladies and visiting brethren. Dancers Entertained With Novelty Items Special novelty dance numbers, including- tap, toe, and acrobatic dances, performed by juveniles had been arranged for the entertainment of those who attended tile Click Clack Cabaret on Saturday evening. A special prize dance, in tvhich all the patrons participated, was won by Miss Valleiey and Mr. R. Exton. A new decorative scheme and pretty lighting effects made the cabaret seem very attractive, and an excellent programme of dance numbers was suppy,e? by Norman Ganley and his Click Clack Internationals. Otahuhu Oddfellows’ 49th. Anniversary SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The Otahuhu Public Hall was prettily decorated in shades of yellow, green and red on Friday evening. when the Loyal Franklin Lodge, Otahuhu, M.U., 1.0.0. F., celebrated its 49th anniversary, and visitors were present from nearly every lodge in the Auckland district. A delightful programme of dance numbers was contributed by th2 Snappy Six Orchestra. During the evening a framed past grand’s emblem was presented to Bro. Albert AI. Todd by Bro. R. Scott, D.D.G.M., on behalf of the lodge.
