SHOOTING TRAGEDY

MAN FOUND DEAD BESIDE GUN HAD BEEN IN ILL-HEALTH From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. A shooting tragedy occurred at Ngaruawahia this morning, when Daniel McKeown, middle-aged, was found dead on his farm with a shotgun beside him. The property is on the Great South Road, about half-way between Ngaruawahia and Horotiu. Deceased had been depressed as a result of very indifferent health, and the tragic discovery was made by Dr. G. B. Isdale, of Ngaruawahia, who visited the farm to interview him. “Danny” McKeown, as he was known, was born in the district and had lived there all his life. Normally he was of a bright, happy disposition, but he had been worried recently on account of his health. His wife is the proprietress of a nursing home at Ngaruawahia. There are no children.
