DIXIELAND CABARET
DANCING COMPETITIONS The second round of the big dancing competition arranged by the Dixieland Cabaret will be held this evening. There are both waltz and fox trot classes, and prizes of £lO 10s first and £ 5 5s second in both classes. Entry is easy and the competition will bo continued on successive -Monday evenings* for some time to come. ORGAN RECITAL Selections from the works of Bach, Haydn, Handel and Mendelssohn were played by the City organist, Mr. Maughan Barnett, at a recital in the Town Hall on Sunday evening. The fairly large audience showed its appreciations of Mendelssohn’s Sonata Xo. 1, and the wood composition. “Orchard Blossom,” from “Scenes in Kent.” Other attractive numbers were “Grand Choeur (Claussmann), Aria (Bach), Two Minuets (Haydn and Handel) and Ballet Music from “Faust” (Gounod). Olaf Hytten lias been signed by Paramount to play his original stage role of Keeble, the valet, in the talking picture version of “Grumpy,” which stars Cyril Maude in the title role. Phillips Holmes and Frances Dade play the juvenile leads, and Paul Cacenagh and Paul Lukas head the supporting cast.
