ALL NIGHT PRAYER

GRANGE ROAD BAPTISTS The persistency of the all night of prayer movement at the Grange Road Baptist Church has been remarkable and last Friday was the sixteenth Friday night in succession. “The influence of this weekly meeting has been widespread, composed as it is of many sects and parties,” says the Rev. A. S. Wilson. “Several other prolonged seasons of intercession have sprung out of it in different churches and a number of impromptu efforts in the cause of Christianity have resulted. “Without any fanfare of trumpets It can be classed as a quiet revival, peaceful in its effects, yet permeating in its influence.” On Friday the chief part of the leadership was taken by Mr. Harry Dawson at various intervals during the t the Revs. A. S. Wilson and F. II 'tadford, and Messrs. Snow and H. L. Thatcher, guided the meeting. The special address was given by Evangelist T. H. Salmon, who, though he has not heard a human voice for 30 years, appears to sense the atmosphere of these gatherings and enjoy them. On Friday he spoke on the 12th chapter of Isaiah and his remarks ■were eagerly listened to by the congregation. During the evening, under the leadership of Miss C. Waterston, late missionary of the Solomon Islands, a band of workers dispensed tea and light refreshments to the intercessors. ‘‘At the close of the all-night vigil at 6.30 a.m. the considerable company of people appeared to be as fresh and fit and departed with joy to fulfill their Saturday morning tasks,” said Mr. Wilson. “These meetings ire talked of all over New Zealand and correspondents from Sydney and Melbourne refer freely to the Auckland all nights of intercession.”
