GAOL FOR WOMEN
ROUND-UP IN CITY As a result of a clean-up of the Ciiy by tile police, five women appeared at the Police Court today. Stiff sentences were imposed ay Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Jessie Childs, a domestic, aged 51, pleaded guilty to being idle and disorderly, with insufficient means of support. She was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment On a similar charge Kathleen Myra Henderson, aged 45, was given three months. She had a list of previous convictions. Edith Hill, aged 53, who appeared on the same charge, was sentenced to two months. Lena Dye, aged 52, who was charged with being idle and disorderly and consorting with reputed thieves, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within six months if called upon. She was also ordered to take out a prohibition order.
On tile same charge Rose Hunter, who pleaded guilty and who had a list of 30 previous convictions, was sentenced to three months.
