EXTENSION TO OPOTFKI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ACTS Prom Our Oicn Correspondent . OPOTIKI, Friday. It was decided at last evening’s meeting of the Opotjki Chamber of Commerce to write to the Whakatane, Taneatua and Tauranga chambers asking them to co-operate in securing local support for the present East Coast railway. The Tauranga Chamber wrote expressing willingness to co-operate in inviting members of the Auckland Chamber to visit the Bay of Plenty. The Auckland Railways Development League stated that a campaign in favour of the extension of the railway to Opotiki was contemplated and asked for financial assistance. It was decided to rep/'* pointing out that the present time was-inopportune, •and suggesting that the campaign be held over till a more suitable time.

At today’s meeting of. the County Council, it was decided to write to the Government suggesting that when railway' allocations are considered, the East Coast line to Opotiki should receive favourable consideration.
