BRITAIN’S NEW PACT
TREATY WITH RUMANIA COMMERCE AND NAVIGATION British Official Wireless Reed. 11.40 a.m. RUGBY. Wed. A treaty of commerce and navigation between the United Kingdom and Rumania, which was signed at the Foreign Office in London, this afternoon, will not come formally into force until ratifications have been exchanged, but letters were exchanged on signature between the Rt. Hon. William Graham, President of the Board of Trade and M. Tilea, head of the Rumanian delegation, in which it was agreed to bring the treaty provisionally into force tomorrow,, pending the exchange of ratifications, which will take some time to complete, otherwise British goods would have become liable to duties of the Rumanian gen era] tariff on September 1. By this treaty, each party accords to the ships and subjects of the other most-favoured-nation treatment in all questions relating to commerce, navigation industry, carrying on of business and exercise of professions or occupations. Other provisions of the treaty, which is designed to prepare the way in all respects for closer commercial relations between the two countries, include one authorising the appointment of consuls. There are also articles for the protection of rights in inventions, trade marks ancl designs, and for prevention of false trade marks and descriptions.
