FINAL TEST TEAM

BRITISH MEN CHOSEN THREE CHANGES MADE Special to THE SUH WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The British team for Saturday is: Bassett, Novis, Aarvold, Bowcott, Reeve, Spong, Murray, Rew, Kendrew, O’Neill, Black, Farrell, Welsh, Beamish and Ivor Jones. Three changes have been made, Kendrew replacing Parker. Novis replacing Morley and Welsh replacing Hodgson. All three new men are thus rewarded for their recent consistent displays, but it is questionable whether the right men have been discarded. Morley, who has been the most consistent of the wings throughout the tour with his brilliant try in the first Test one of the high lights of international Rugby, must be considered extremely unfortunate to he dropped. Similarly Ilodgson, who played splendidly in both the first and third Tests, is unlucky in having to make room for Welsh. In view of their recent form both Aarvold and Black are fortunate to be retained in the Test side. Black has been included primarily for his goalkicking, which in the third Test was too erratic to win the game for Britain. Ivor Jones is as good a goalkick and an infinitely better forward.

Welsh, who is a clever all-round forward and a particularly good line-out man, will be an acquisition to the British pack, while Kendrew, who has played as hooker since his schooldays, when he captained Uppingham School, may improve the performance of its front row. Kendrew’s presence undoubtedly contributed to the success of the British scrum in the Waikato match, in which it gained a greater share of possession than in any other match of the tour. Tho British selection committee is evidently satisfied of Murray’s soundness and if he can duplicate Saturday’s fine performance he will be a great asset to the team.

No practice was held yesterday, partly on account of bad weather, hut also because at this stage rest rather than further trainng is considered desirable. A full practice will he held tomorrow, after which Friday will be a quiet day. On the present indications the weather is unpromising and Athletic Park is certain to he on the heavy side. ALL BLACKS TRAINING TEAM TO BE PICKED TOMORROW ENTERTAINED LAST EVENING Press Association OTAKI, Today. The All Blacks indulged in some solid training yesterday afternoon and this morning. Last evening they were entertained at a hockey reunion and were warmly welcomed. The test team will be picked tomorrow morning on the arrival of the team in Wellington.
