TIVOLI
“THE VAGABOND KING” The romantic operetta, “The Vagabond King,” is continuing its season at tho Tivoli Theatre and is showing to large houses. The picture, which is set in Paris in the fifteenth century, has for its cenfigure Farcois Villion, the disreputable but famous poet of the taverns. Dennis King, who plays the leading role, is seen inciting the rabble to revolt against their weak king. Louis XI., who is doing little to stop the Burgundians in their march on Paris Circumstances throw Villon into the King’s power, and he is faced with the alternatives of continuing his life in the gutter or ruling the nation for six days and dying on the seventh. The romantic side of his character chooses the latter course, and by his skill and courage he is able not only to save Paris and his own life, but also to \vm the hand of a princess. Jeanette Macdonald plays the opposite role to Denis King. A full list of shorter talkies complete the fine programme.
