FRENCH SLOOP REGULUS
WILL ARRIVE FOR DOCKING NEXT MONTH
WARSHIPS’ MOVEMENTS
M. Paul Serre, French Consul, has received official advice that the sloop Regulus will arrive in Auckland on September 22. She will stay five days for docking and overhaul. The Regulus is one of two French warships at present serving in the Pacific. The Bellatrix is the other. ‘They displace approximately 1,400 tons and belong to the “Flower” class, being of a type similar to the Laburnum and the Veronica. The sloop Cassiopee is now employed on another station, and a former captain of hers, Commander Decoux, is in 'charge of the cruiser Primauguet. His immediate successor, Commander Auverny, has become naval attache in the Balkans. Commander C. Husson who was here some years ago in the sloop Aldobaran, is now commanding the battleship La Bretagne, a unit of the Mediterranean fleet. DUTCH NAVAL VISIT IN AUCKLAND AT END OF 0(TOBER THREE VESSELS COMING Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Information has been received regarding the visit of the Dutch cruiser Sumatra and two destroyers which indicates that the squadron is to be at Wellington from October 17 to 21. and at: Auckland from October 24 to 2S. The Sumatra carries 30 officers and 460 men and 'each of the destroyers 10 officers and 116 men. The' Government will e:;tend the usual courtesies to the visitors.
