NORTH SHORE IGNORED

AIRPORT FOR AUCKLAND v

Devonport strongly resents the fact that the City Council, in formulating a scheme for an airport, ignored the northern shores of the Waitemata. Mr. W. Cassels-Brown, one of the Devonport delegates to the recent conference of local bodies to discuss an airport site, reported to the borough council last evening that be had pointed out to tho meeting that the map before the delegates ended at the city’s waterfront, and omitted the northern half of the city. He urged consideration of tho possibility of Hying boats being used, and the inspection of Shoal Bay as a potential commercial airport. Mr. Cassels-Brown also mentioned the possibility of erecting a beacon for niglit flying on the sumit of Rangitoto . The council will ask for additional copies of the City Council’s report at tho recent conference, so that the members can. study the position.
