“BURNING UP” The current programme which has delighted audiences at the Majestic Theatre during the past week will have its final screening there this evening. This includes “The Street of Chance,” the exciting gambling picture starring William Powell, also a number of shorter talkie featurettes. From tomorrow the Majestic will screen an entirely new talkie programme The chief picture, “Burning Up,” stars Richard Arlen, who, as Lou Larrigan, is ambitious to drive in real automobile races. His employer, Gentry, goes broke, and he and McGhan, a disqualified driver, accept an offer from “Windy” Wallace, a crooked promoter, to frame a race. Larrigan meets Ruth Morgan, daughter of the town banker, and they soon fall in love. The night before the race, Larrigan confronts the crooked promoters and tells them he is out to win the race. The race is* a thriller. McGhan deliberately runs his car at Larrigan’s. But Larrigan, with superior skill, escapes, and in a thrilling finish wins the race. New talkie supports will also be presented A second big attraction will be shown on the new programme in “The Vagabond Lover,” a gay romance introducing the New York matinee idol, Rudv Valee, in a melodious show.
