LIMERICK COMPETITION
The last limerick competition has resulted as follows: First Prize: Bird Lover (Isabella Ashforth, 8 Acorn Street, Royal Oak): — • There was a young girl named Amanda, Who possessed an astonishing candour; She would tell all she heard. Whether wise or absurd. Irrespective of where it would land her. Second Prize: Sea Chief (Joseph Thornton, 64 Queen Street, Onehunga) : There was a young girl named Amanda. Who possessed an astonishing candour; She would tell all she heard. And all that occurred, Between her and her beau, Alexander. Highly Commended: Drifting Feather (Gwen Taylor, Auckland): She would tell all she heard, E’en to beast and to bird, And gossiped with goose and with gander. Little Stalker (Roy Neely, Herne Bay):— She would tell all she heard, Every bit, word for word, No matter how much it was slander. Gold-tipped Feather (Kathleen Neely, Herne Bay); Flying Squirrel (Becky Pelham, Royal Oak); Lone Drifter (Ida More, Mount Roskill); Sun Dancer (Irma Hutson, Taumarunui).
