The United States Navy Department announces a tentative decision which calls tor the retirement of the battleships Utah, 1 lorida and Wyoming about October 1, without the nece:sity of awaiting Japan's raafica tinn of the London Nava] Treaty. It is assumed that world conditions are such that a situation would arise in the next IS months in which the United States would be handicapped by the lack of these wa ships, but the move will save the country about .41800,000 and serve as a gesture of international confidence.
