ONEHUNGA ORPHANS’ CLUB

A well-varied programme entertained R large gathering of members of the Onehunga Orphans’ Club and their friends in the club’s hail. Church Street, Onehunga, on Saturday evening.

Vice-president Bro. Len Bray had charge of the gavel and among the visitors were Bros. W. K. Francis and 1,. Anderson, president and secretary of the Papaknra Orphans’ Club, Bro. T. Hill, vice-president of the Takapuna * lub, Bro. Maxwell Walker, Auckland Orphans’ Club, and representatives of the Hamilton and Tp Awamutu Clubs. Under Bro. J. Ughton, the club s orchestra received spirited encores for its finished renderings of “The Crusader” and "Swanee River.” Solos were sung by Bros. Hugh Woods, Arthur Wright and Arthur Austin, while Bro. J. McGregor (violin) and Barry Ingall's Stringed Quartet secured encores for their selections.

Bro. Norman Tate received a hearty Welcome and demonstrated consistent form in a variety of balancing feats combine! with music and humour. The programme concluded with Bro Maxwell Walker’s medley of football, bookmaking and true manliness Bro. Len Elliott played the accompaniments.
