RUSH TO SECURE REBATE Thursday was the final day for the payment of rates in Takapuna Borough In order to secure a five per cent, rebate, and the staff was kept busy throughout the week. One day’s grace was allowed for payments sent by mail in order to give country residents an equal opportunity to secure the reduction. Figures concerning the full amount collected were not available this morning. but It is understood that slightlv under 54 per cent, of the current year’s rates was received, together with 51 per cent, of the arrears budgeted for on the current estimates. This Is approximately the same proportion as is paid at this date every year, according to the Town Clerk. Mr. H. L. Bowden
