LEAVE FLAG IRIS
It is a mistake to move yearly a plant of Flag Iris. This may well be left in the same position for foulyears, when it becomes an object of increasing beauty. If it is desired to increase the stock portions of the rhizomes, as the thick creeping underground stems are called, may be cut away. Almost any sizeable fragment will take root, especially in early summer. To prevent undue impoverishment of the ground where an established iris is growing, rich soil or decayed manure may be spread lighfly over the rhizomes.
