AMERICAN SAILOR DREW A KNIFE ‘ £1 OR THREE DAYS When Charles Murphy, an American, saw a number of Maoris at the foot of Queen Street yesterday, he became alarmed, and drew a knife to defend himself. Murphy, aged 26, a sailor off the Golden Coast, appeared at the Police Court today, and pleaded guilty to a charge of being disorderly while drunk in Queen Street. “He was running around near the post office in Queen Street yesterdav, brandishing a knife,” said SubTnspector Shanahan. “As the result of complaints, he was arrested by Constable Smith. “When he was asked what he was doing with a knife, he said he had had trouble with some Maoris, and had drawn the weapon to defend himself, as the Maoris were going to take to him.” Mr. F.
