DRINKING IN CABARETS
PROTEST TO MINISTER Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. 1 A deputation organised by the Women’s Social Progress Movement waited on the Minister of Justice, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe. yesterday, to ask for legislation in connection with the drinking of intoxicating liquors in cabarets and dance halls. Miss M. McLean said that if cabarets and dance halls were clearly included in the definition of “restaurants'* in the Sale of Llqour Restriction Act all would be plain. The evidence of drinking, disturbances and even deaths had caused social workers to realise that there was an urgent necessity for immediate action. Other speakers added supporting remarks. Mr. Cobbe promised that the matter would have serious consideration.
