“CASE OF SERGEANT GRISCHA” % “Pictures like ‘The Case of Sergeant Grischa’ do more to promote peace among nations than all the essays, lectures and pacifist propaganda extant. “Because films of this kind depict war with ruthless realism and reveal its pitiless cruelty to mankind, they serve a dual purpose. ‘Grischa’ entertains without resorting to false sentiment and teaches a lesson without being a preachment. And it does this without once showing a scene of actual warfare.” This is the opinion of Major Hans •Joby, former officer of the German Army and an authority on European military practices, who served as technical advisor on Radio Pictures’ spectacular war drama, “The Case of Sergeant Grischa.” Herbert Brenon, its director, retained Joby because of his wide knowledge of wartime conditions and his extensive collection of military trophies. Case of Sergeant Grischa” will, with a capital accompanying programme, be shown at the Rialto Theatre this evening.
