DARGAVILLE CLUB
ELECTION OF OFFICERS DATE OF RACE MEETING Owing to the death of tlie president, Mr. F. J. Dargaville, further nominations have been received for the election of officials of the Dargaville Racing Club. An election Is to bo held on August 14. There will be a contest for each office, and the following nominations have been received:— President, Messrs. B. Coleman and R. W. Cuthbert; vice-presidents (three required), Messrs. IT. Massey, T. Wells, A- C. Ball, A. J. Finch, F. Watters; stewards (four required), Messrs. M. Greville, A. W. Christie. J. W. McLennon, F. C. Jones, C S. Rush, A. V. Docherty, F. Izzard, W. A. B. Morris. and W. A. Peterson. The retiring stewards are Messrs. W. A- Peterson and M. Greville (stipendiary). One of the matters the incoming executive will have to decide upon promptly is the dates for its annual race meeting. November 13 and 15 was the original proposal, but with the Labour Day date not available for the Waikato Racing Club, the Dates Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference approved of this club’s alternative dates, November 15 and 17. Obviously the Waikato fixture would seriously affect the Dargaville Club if it adhered to November 13 and 15. Speaking to “Early Bird’’ at the Wellington meeting last month, the late Mr. F. J. Dargaville (who was one of the delegates to the Racing Conference) intimated that his club would be forced to find other dates for its meeting.
