English Soccer Tour of N.Z?

With a view to strengthening the Association game in the Empire the English Football Association has been asked to consider the possibility of organising a scheme whereby an English team of young players would tour New Zealand, Australia, Canada and South Africa in successive seasons, the funds raised to be used to further the game, particularly in the schools. This proposal is now made by the New Zealand F.A., whose recent request for an F.A. team to visit them this summer proved unsuccessful. .

New Zealand now renews its appeal and also makes this suggestion that there shall be a regular programme of Empire tours. Mr. Frank Campbell, chairman of the New Zealand F.A., points out that New Zealand has now 543 teams and about 7.000 players. Finance, however, has always been a big problem, and New Zealand invites the F.A. to meet its needs by— Sending out a team mainly composed of young Second and Third Division players.

Paying the cost of the assembly of the team and the boat fares (approximately £135 a player), together with those of managers and trainer; the clubs to release players and pay their wages. , The New Zealand F.A- would take over the party on its arrival and pay all travelling and hotel expenses in that country. The team to leave England early in April and return about the middle of October.
