CHARITY DAY AT EDEN PARK Fast Open Football FAST, open football should be seen tomorrow when the Auckland secondary schools will provide the matches at Eden Pai'k. Tomorrow is also the day yearly set aside in aid of charity and this fact, together with the additional attraction of College Day, should ensure a large attendance The principal game will be that between King’s College and Auckland Grammar. In past, years this game has always provided keen and interesting football of a good standard. With stands packed with enthusiastic supporters of both schools a close and thrilling contest may be expected.

At present Grammar is leuxlins in j the secondary schools championship with an undefeated record for the sea son. but on the last occasion on which these teams met a drawn pa me resulted neither side scoring. The curtain-raiser will be provided by Mount Albert Grammar and Takap’una Grammar. Both teams are playing good football and should provide another interesting game The Auckland Rugby Union’s senior championship games will also be resumed tomorrow’ after a break of three weeks taken up by representative fixtures. Ponsonby will meet College Rifles at Victoria Park at o’clock and Marist will play Grammar at the Domain at 1.30. Two senior games will be played on No. 3 ground at Eden Park, University meeting Training College at 1.30 and Technical Old Boys playing Grafton at thre o’clock Manukau will play City at the Show’grounds Carnes in the lower grades will also be continued. The first round of the second grad** competition has left College Rifles and Ponsonby with unbeaten records in A and B sections, respectively. TAUPIRI SUB-UNION from Our Oxch Correspondent TAUPIRI. Thursday. At a meeting of the Taupiri Rugby Sub-Union, it was announced that Taupiri would play Hamilton for the Peace Cup at Hamilton on Saturday, August 9 Advice was also received from the Waikato Union to the effect* that it intended presenting six footballs. These, together with one donated by the local union, were handed over to the seven school teams in the newlyconstituted Lower Waikato Primary Schools’ Association. A sum of £5 was also donated to the Schools’ Association to assist in the defraying of travelling expenses.
