SOMERSET TEAM GOES FOR 121 RUNS AUSTRALIA ONE FOR 136 United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyriyh Reed. 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Wed. The Australian cricketers today commenced a match against Somerset at Taunton. The teams were as follow: Australia. Woodfull, Richardson, Bradman, Jackson, Ponsford, McCabe, Grimmett, A’Beckett, Hornibrook, Ilurwood, Walker. Somerset.—Young Longrigg, Ingle, J. Lee, J. C. White, Case, Hawkins, F. Lee, Wellard, Hunt, Marshall. The weather was dull,’ and the wicket fair. Somerset won the toss, and elected to bat. They quickly lost five wickets for only 60 runs. Jackson and Ponsford opened for •Vustral a, but the latter failed to get going. Hunt bowled four successive maidens to Bradman, who remained for 20 minutes without scoring. Jackson took 35 minutes to make six. Then he was dropped in the slips. Bradman was not himself. He mis-hit and timed badly. Australia’s laborious 50 took 85 m.nutes. Bradman later brightened somewhat, but his partners 25 occupied 105 minutes. In the same time Bradman reached 50. Somerset’s total was passed without further loss. The scores are:— SOMERSET.
