FOURTH REMAND

CHARGES A YEAR OLD On charges of stealing goods, more than a year ago, George Albert Hedley Nixon, who appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court today, was remanded for the fourth time, and will appear on August 7. Nixon was charged with stealing goods to the value of £ll lis Gd, the property of L. E. Wiseman, at Taka puna, on March 26, 1929. He was alternatively charged with theft and breaking and entering on the same count. Two further charges of break ing and entering, and stealing goods to the value of £2B front Frank Parks, St. Stephen’s Avenue, and Irene Zoe Elizabeth Wilson, Nortlicote, last year, were also preferred against hint. Nixon, who was represented by Mr. Aekins, pleaded not guilty. Chief-Detective Hammond asked for a further remand for a fortnight. An important witness had to be brought front Wellington. Mr. Aekins: Nixon is now serving three months in gaol, and it is hardly fair to him that he should be remanded agin. We would like these charges cleared up. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., granted a final remand until Augfist 7.
