WITNESS IN DISTRESS
YOUNG WOMAN IN SEMICOLLAPSE PRISONER PLEADS GUILTY Obviously ill anil in a greatly distressed condition, a young woman, who was the principal Crown witness in a case in the Supreme Court today, practically collapsed when placed in the witness box, and was unable to be questioned. The accused man, William Marshall Forbes (Mr. Schramm), who was charged with indecently assaulting the young woman, and committing an indecent act with intent to insult or offend, pleaded not guilty at first. Subsequently, following tile partial collapse of the young woman witness, who, it was stated, had had to be brought from hospital that day, he admitted committing an indecent act. This was accepted by the Crown Prosecutor. Mr. V. R. Meredith, who. in opening, asserted that the offence, which had occurred in a city theatre on a Sunday evening, was exceedingly disgusting. The young woman was helped from the box staggering in an over-wrought condition. Prisoner was remanded until tomorrow for sentence.
