Last season Joyous Greeting was not raced. Lord Derby’s representative, West Wicklow', won last year’s Cesarewitch, 2.4 miles. This is the most important long-distance handicap in the Old Country. Cup Contest Today The big race on the third day's programme, run today, is the Goodwood Cup, 2 miles 5 furlongs, at set weights, with penalties and allowances. The set weights are: Three-year-olds 7.7. four-year-olds 8.12, older horses 9.2. Old Orkney heads the list with 10.0, and close to him arc; such well-known performers as Bosworth (winner of tho Ascot Gold Cup) 9.10, Kopi 9.10, Athford 9.7, Arctic Star 9.7, the Australian horse, Strephon 11., 9.7, Sir Joshua 9.7, Brown Jack 9.7, the French horse Palais Royal 11. 9.7, Star Eagle (owned by the ex-Aucklander, Mr. B. Davis) 9.3, Horus 9.3, The Bastard 8.12, the Aga Khan's four-year-old Le Voleur 8.7, and there are three littleperformed three-year-olds.
