SHEEP-STEALING CASE

SECOND TRIAL OPENED OTAGO FARMER CHARGED Press Association DUNEDIN, Tuesday. The second hearing began in the Supreme Court today of the case in which Gilbert William Lewis, farmer, of Springvale, was charged with stealing 20 ewes, valued at £ls, the property of Edward James lies, and, alternatively, with receiving them knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained. The case was almost completed at the previous session, when two jurymen were discovered drinking in an hotel bar with witnesses for the defence, and a new trial was ordered. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. F. B. Adams, alleged in his opening address today that accused had interfered with fke fences on Iles’s property. .The case is expected to last for three days.
