LYRIC THEATRE
“THE MIGHTY” “The Mighty,” which will be shown at the Lyric Theatre tonight, presents the striking story of a man of the underworld, a born gunman whose prowess during the war brings him back a national hero, accepted and held by society against his wishes. The story is that of a pre-war gunman who smiled at the law, was forced into the war, and emerged a national hero, his past seemingly forgotten. He is made commissioner of police in a crime-ridden city, but his old gang find him, and they p an a grand raid with his aid. Growing desperate, the criminals hold up three banks while Bancroft and the police force are at a celebration picnic. The news of the raid gets through to George and off he goes at the head of 50 motor-cycle officers, riding at breakneck speed and firing as fast as their automatics will shoot. What a thrill! From thence ori the action is so swift that we are told six cameras were required to photograph it.
