CIVIC

"PARAMOUNT ON PARADE” Tonight sees the final presentation of the current programme at the Civic Theatre. This includes the light comedy, "Lovin' the Ladies," starring Richard Dix, together with the supporting programme of orchestral numbers and organ solos. Tomorrow the Civic will present "Paramount on Parade." “The New York Times" said, of this variety show: “This jovial satire is beautifully staged, and virtually all the sketches are endowed with wit, surprises, competent acting, and tuneful melodies." ; All-talking. all-musical motion ‘ picture-making is the most interest-

ing phase of the show business. Its limitless opportunties, combined with almost limitless resources at the command of Hollywood studios, make it so And this in spite of tho fact that it is the most trying exacting and nerveshattering work in the world.

So believes Elsie Janis, noted comedienne and impersonator. She supervised the talking, dancing, singing festival of Paramount’s stars, "Paramount on Parade." Miss Janis explains that "Paramount on Parade” is made up of more than 15 starring specialties, many of them filmed in technicolour, and intimately introducing, during the course of its entertainment, nearly every star and featured player on the Paramount contract list. Among the players are Richard Arlen, George Bancroft, Clara Bow, Evelyn Brent, Clive Brook, Nancy Carroll, Ruth Chatterton, Maurice Chevalier, Gary*Cooper, Leon Errol. Skeets Gallagher. Harry Green, Helen Kane, Dennis King, Abe Lyman and his band, Jack Oakie, Zelma O’Neal, William Powell, and Charles (‘"Buddy”) Rogers. Bright supports and new music complete tomorrow’s programme.
