CHATHAM CUP GAME TO STAND MATCH ON SATURDAY Although the Control Board of the Auckland Football Association last evening decided to postpone the North Island final for the Chatham Cup from Saturday to Saturday week, a wire was received this morning from the Council of the New Zealand Football Association, Wellington, stating that the match must stand. The Auckland decision was reached at the request of the Wellington provincial finalist, Petone, and was agreed to by the Auckland provincial finalist, Thistle. The match will therefore be played at Blandford Park at 3 p.m. on Saturday. All other competition games, with the exception of the match in which the Thistle Club was to have played, will stand also. The New Zealand Referees’ Association notified that Mr. R. H. Parfitt had been appointed referee for the Chatham Cup North Island final, to be played in Auckland. The New Accord Club wrote stating that it intended withdrawing its second grade team owing to a shortage of players. The judicial committee reported that Chalmers, of the Y.M.C.A. Club, who was ordered off in the game with Corinthians a fortnight ago for disputing the referee’s decision. had been severely cautionel. The finding was confirmed, but it was resolved to recommend to the judicial committee that similar offences be dealt with more severely in the future. The minor division committee’s application for permission to hold a college day at Blandford Park on August 16 was granted.
